In an extension to MetaFrame XP, MetaFrame for UNIX® enables access to UNIX and Java® applications via any network connection and any terminal, even at narrow bandwidths, without any need for implementing additional terminal emulations or an additional software layer. MetaFrame for UNIX operating systems makes these applications available to users anywhere, regardless of the network connection or device they are working with, e.g. a thin client terminal, or a hand-held computer. Thanks to the MetaFrame application server software, users can enjoy improved performance and thereby enhanced security, even via connections with narrow bandwidths.

What's more, if MetaFrame XP and MetaFrame for UNIX operating systems are used together, this means that practically any type of application can be provided on practically any terminal. At the present time, MetaFrame for UNIX operating systems support additional user licence packs and Load Balancing services. As far as Management Services are concerned, the rest of the product family is not currently compatible with this product.
